Map of Namibia Tour Route 8

From Keetmanshoop / Grunau on B1 Road:  Depending on which attraction you plan to visit first. Ai-Ais (C10) or Hobas / Fish River Canyon Viewpoint  (C12) first.

From Keetmashoop / Luderitz on B4 Road: Access the C12 at Seeheim. You may also consider visiting the Naute Dam Resort when in this area. Hobas has good camping facilities. Ai-Ais Resort is about 90km south of the Main Fish River Canyon Viewpoint.

From South Africa Ariamsvlei: Some drivers prefer to access the C10 gravel road at Karasburg thus bypassing Grunau and saving on time and fuel.

From South Africa Noordoewer: To Ai-Ais. Access the D316

Ai-Ais Hot Springs Resort   7   Ai-Ais Hot Springs Resort offers an ideal stay over right along-side the Fish River at the lower end of the Canyon. Accommodation ranges from luxury apartments to shaded camp sites with water and power The resort is closed during the summer (and rainy season ) months owing to the heat and possibility of flash flooding. Time Budget 4-6hr+   Map Directions

Fish River Canyon Namibia   8    Fish River Canyon is 2nd only to the Grand Canyon in size and is one of  'Africa's Must Sees'. Here you can see where the waters of the Fish River have, over a period of 1,000 million years cut through the surrounding hard rock to a depth of over 550 meters. There are sections of the canyon that are about 27km in width. There is a NWR camp site at Hobas.    Map Directions

Time budget 2hrs+

Naute Dam Resort Naute Dam Resort: An overnight camp at the Naute Dam and looking down on 'all of that water' after driving across the desert makes for a pleasant break. It's inexpensive and not too far a diversion from the main road system. This is the 2nd largest Dam in Namibia and quite picturesque. There are camping area, but no electricity or shower facilities. If you're equipped for 'camping out' this is a good restful stop over place and reasonably priced.    Map Directions
