Maps of Keetmanshoop and District Attractions

51  Quiver Tree Forest &  52  Giant's Playground: Drive north on B1 from Keetmanshoop. After 3km turn east onto the C16 road. After about 500m turn north east onto C17. There are signs for Giants Playground, Quiver Tree Forest and Mesosaurus. After 13km you will see the Signs for Giant's Playground and Quiver Tree Forest.

The Farm Gariganus has self catering igloo accommodation units.  They have a Cheetah enclosure. Good photos.

53  Mesosuarus tenuidens Fossil Site: Follow the above directions, but continue driving on the C17 road for about a further 27km. You will see a small reception office on your left hand side about 20 meters from the road.

Highly recommended. The Steenkamps own the farm and are passionate about their work. You will see wonderful things on their farm. Not only some of the best trace fossils of Mesosaurus tenuidens but Quiver trees, Surrealistic Dolerite Rock formations and hear musical rocks. The tour is worth twice the price they charge.

50   Brukarros: Drive north on B1 from Keetmanshoop. About 78 km north turn west onto M98 Gravel road (signs for Berseba ).After 38km turn north onto D3904 to Brukarros

This is only for the keen hikers and those on a guided tour. The lower community run camping area can be accessed by car. The upper camping area is about 1km up the rock and can be accessed by foot or 4x4. It's possibly the nearest chance you'll have of entering the caldera of a Geological phenomena that looks like a volcano, but isn't quite.

Naute Dam Resort: From Keetmanshoop: Drive the B4 west for about 31km. Turn south onto the D545. After about 20 km turn onto the D570 dam road. This is the 2nd largest Dam in Namibia and quite picturesque. There are camping area, but no electricity or shower facilities. If you're equipped for 'camping out' this is a good restful stopover place and reasonably priced.
